our heaviest weight denim to date: a 100% cotton, rigid indigo 22oz Japanese selvage denim. this fabric encapsulates everything we love about selvage denim... to the nth degree: tough, formidable, and the perfect blank canvas that will only get better with time and wear.

a classic 5-pocket jean, hank combines a high rise, relaxed seat, and a full straight leg that ends with a subtle taper -- resulting in a pant that's accommodating in fit right from the get-go.

How To Measure

first thing's first, grab a pair of your favorite pants that have a similar rise. find a measuring tape and a flat surface to measure on. be sure to lay your pants flat, smoothing out the fabric to remove any slack. compare the measurements to the chart above.

waist

the circumference of the waistband, along the top edge.

hip

the width at the bottom of the J stitch, straight across. double the flat measurement.

front rise

the length from the bottom of the crotch seam to the top edge of the front waistband.

thigh

starting 1” below the crotch seam, the width of the leg perpendicular to the outer seam. double the flat measurement.

leg opening

the width of the opening at the bottom of the leg. double the flat measurement.

inseam

following the inside-leg seam, the length from the crotch seam to the bottom of the leg.

i really have enjoyed wearing the 22oz hanks -- they are definitely the heaviest pants i’ve ever worn, but while the button fly and waist were stiff at first, they were not as intense as i was expecting. that being said: this is a serious jean. 22oz is both heavy and rigid, but the initial break in has gone smoothly and i am really enjoying them more with each wear!

my current favorite pair of jeans is a willie 20oz in a size 35, so i took a 36 with these. they were definitely snug in the waist at first, but after a wear or two, they stretched out over an inch on the waist which felt really good.

genuinely, i really like these jeans, and love the vintage/classic silhouette. i am excited to see how they turn out as i continue to break them in.
